FOOD SAFETY, QUALITY
& REGULATIONS COMPLIANCE DIRECTOR
Responsible for the food safety, quality and food regulatory management, of the activities developed in the company, including those related with sourcing, warehousing operations, selling, customer’s and food authority’s technical communications (FDA/USDA, HD). Develop, manage and oversee all the activities of the food safety team assuring compliance with the company’s objectives. Oversee the development and administration of all records and documents related with the Food Safety Management System, together with the ones in the operative System Repositrak, where all vendor’s records are kept, including certifications, Food Safety Plan (FSP), British Retailers Consortium (BRC) Certificates, IFS, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) Systems, Kosher, and others. Develop and manage the implementation of internal procedures and records related with food safety, quality and food regulation compliance. Assess and support Directors and Management in all aspects of food safety, quality and food regulation issues through reports, communications, training and meetings. Develop food safety, quality and regulatory reports based in data investigation. Assure that product quality issues (quality, packaging, label, shipping) are communicated with the suppliers and that, corrective or other actions are taken. Responsible for assuring the requesting and correct interpretation of any lab test needed in a timely manner. Oversee and verify compliance of all issues related with the Food Modernization Act, Food Defense and those applicable of Customs and Border Protection. Responsible for the food safety verification program including products and supplier verifications for approval and to maintain compliance, including the following documentation and site auditing activities: (1) Communicate with FDA/USDA regarding food regulatory compliance matters; (2) Assure the competency of the company team members in matters related with food safety and food regulation through presentations and courses; (3) Advise Executive Vice President, Directors and Suppliers concerned with food safety issues related with FSMA; (4) Work on other projects and duties that might be assigned by the EVP.
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety & Quality, Bromatology, or U.S. equivalent and 3 years of experience in the job or as Food Safety, Quality & Reg. Compliance Vice President, Food Safety & Quality Auditor Manager, Quality Assurance Manager or closely related occupation within the food/beverage product industry on a domestic and international basis. Must have food safety, quality assurance and regulations compliance experience and proven working knowledge of U.S. food safety regulations, import/export regulations and FDA/USDA standards to be able to manage all food assurance activities, including conducting HACCP reviews, implementing BRC certifications, comply with FSMA/food regulations and meet strict compliance and food safety/quality standards. Must have the following certifications/licenses: HACCP, FSMA and Quality Management Systems-Auditor. 25-30% travel required.
